Yesterday was released the Microsoft Windows XP SP3. The service pack update packages for operating systems that not only contain tutte le patch rilasciate in precedenza, di solito apportano migliorie e/o modifiche al sistema operativo, aggiungendo programmi e funzionalità. La service pack 2 di Windows Xp infatti apportà grandi novità come il centro sicurezza e un firewall. La service pack 3 apporta le seguenti modifiche:

- Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 3.0, un’architettura che unifica e semplifica la maintenance management by introducing the Task Manager menu, easy navigation, toolbars and flow charts that work across the board on various instruments.

- The Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 (MSXML6) provides improved reliability, security and consistency with the standards for XML Schema 1.0 1.0 el'XML. It also introduces compatibility with System.Xml 2.0.

- The Digital Identity Management Service (DIMS) enables users when they log on to a computer or server protected by certification in a transparent manner to enter into possession of all certificates and keys for access per le applicazioni e i servizi.

- La connettività trae beneficio dal Service Pack 3 innanzi tutto grazie al Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), che immette il supporto per WPA2, l’ultimo standard di sicurezza per il wireless derivato dallo IEEE 802.11i.
